I am no economist but it seems we have trade deficits -in part - because our industries find it economically useful to import goods from countries with lower labor costs and fewer worker protections and our consumers want inexpensive clothing and toys etc made in poorer countries. I hope someone who knows what they are talking about weighs in on this. Maybe a spokesbird for the penguins of Heard Island.

Before I could read this, appeals courts handed power back to Trump. And SCOTUS is preparing to give him even more by the end of the term. I won’t be surprised if they also allow the orange ogre free rein to stop admittance to foreign students. My husband and I are hustling to seek education for our daughter elsewhere. She so wants to attend college here and asks why are Americans being so cruel to everyone. In the meantime, there are troubling reports floating about in Europe that Putin and Musk have successfully culled the information needed to end the functioning of the US without firing a shot. Not to mention the database on individual Americans. Such a tragic ending to a country that has and could have continued to do so much to improve lives globally. My heart is very heavy.
